Golden Chains

In ‘Sahih Muslim’ (2880), Sufyan bin ‘Uyaynah narrated from Zaynab bint Abi Salamah from Habibah from Umm Habibah from Zaynab bint Jahsh that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) woke up one day and said: “Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has come closer! Today, a gap this size has formed in the wall containing Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog),” and Sufyan formed a circle with his fingers to demonstrate what was relayed to him. So, Zaynab asked: “O Messenger of Allah, can we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us?” He said: “Yes, if corruption becomes widespread.”

an-Nawawi commented in ‘Sharh Sahih Muslim’ (9/180):
“This chain of narration contains four female Companions – two of the Messenger of Allah’s wives and two of his step-daughters – narrating from each other in a continuous chain. And it is not known that any other hadith besides this combines four female Companions with each narrating from the other in a continuous chain.”

And Ibn Kathir mentioned the following gem in ‘Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Adhim’ (2/142):

“…And we reported from the ‘Musnad’ of Ahmad a hadith that has a glad tiding for every believer that his soul will be in Paradise and will move around in it, will eat from its fruits, will see the brightness and happiness in it, and will see the honor that Allah has prepared for it, and it is reported through a mighty, great, authentic chain of narration that contains three of the four Imams of the followed madhahib, as Imam Ahmad narrated it from Muhammad bin Idris ash-Shafi’i from Malik bin Anas al-Asbahi from az-Zuhri from ‘Abd ar-Rahman bin Ka’b bin Malik from his father who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The soul of the believer is a bird hanging to a tree in Paradise until Allah returns it to his body on the day He resurrects him.”

Some more ahadith that have Ahmad narrating from ash-Shafi’i narrating from Malik:

Jazakallahu khayran. How I wish the the last part was also translated! First post I have seen containing arabic?

    • The ahadith themselves aren’t the point. Rather, it is that all five of those narrations at the end have Ahmad < ash-Shafi'i < Malik in their chains of narration.

  3. Ruqayya bint Hidayah Says:

It is a delight for the eyes and soul to see arabic script, no matter where, on this blog or on someone elses, or be it a book, or a simple letter to a friend, doesn’t matter, it makes every space more beautiful

But it is also a sad fact not being in the position to understand the noble content

May Allah increase the knowledge of this magnificant language of Jannah (and its script) of all those who are seeking for it, and may He inspire those who are blessed with knowledge of this treasure, to use every vantage to bring it closer to every soul. Amin

  4. Abdul Jalil Muhammad Says:

    Jazahkhaallah Khayran
